Electron Microscopy

The Electron Microscopy (EM) Working Group is devoted to fostering the use of EM in Pathology, not only as a valuable diagnostic ancillary technique, but also as an extraordinary teaching tool and potential quality assurance method.
The main objective of the EMWG is to re-establish an appreciation of the value of electron microscopy in diagnosis and research in pathology. It would promote understanding of the nature of pathological lesions or conditions, and improve diagnostic accuracy.

This would be achieved primarily through organisation of meetings for the discussion of current ideas and interpretations in electron microscopy. Potentially, a database of individuals in Europe could also be established, with specialist expertise in ultrastructural pathology to promote communication in general, and to enable non-specialists to seek advice from experts.
